Simon -

Thanks for the data. That's really interesting. U.S. is at 1.5%, and Singapore, HK, China, and Malaysia combined is 1.7%. o.0

One would have assumed China, Singapore, et.al. would dwarf the traffic from the US.

Is there something happening at the national level -- tourism ads or something that Australia is doing to promote Australia to Yanks?

As requested, here is a rough break down of the traffic to www.realestate.com.au (Australia's largest site)

87% traffic from Australia
2% from New Zealand (not surprising)
2% from the UK (perhaps Australians coming home)
1.5% from the US
0.5% from Singapore
0.5% from Canada
0.5% from France
0.5% from Hong Kong
0.4% from China
0.3% from Germany
0.3% from Malaysia
0.3% from South Africa
Rest is the long tail

I hope this gives you some more information

Thanks

Very nice article! I have the same opinion. I am working in Toronto real estate business and globalization can be seen all around here - companies from abroad, businessmen, immigrants - everybody is buying properties. Somebody says it's bad, we are selling our country, but it's nonsense. For example I believe that investors from abroad are the best solution to restart US real estate market!
